Although there are a number of LHON clinical trials ongoing around the world, there are none currently recruiting in the UK.
Trials that are currently recruiting in other countries include research into:
- Gene therapy for the treatment of LHON with certain mutations
- A treatment called bezafibrate (Befizal®) for the treatment of LHON
- New techniques for looking at eye structure and function
- Stem cell treatment
More trials may become available in the future.
